Houston’s New Logo Brands Bayou City as “The City With No Limits”

Though I’m not a Houston native, I’ve lived in Houston for the majority of my life. I feel very fortunate to be a Houstonian, from the opportunities I’ve come across to the friendly people all over the city…I can’t think of a better city to call home.

But enough gushy stuff, let’s get down to business. Yes, Houston has a new logo, which I think looks awesome. The campaign launched a little over a month ago, and was spearheaded by the Greater Houston Partnership.

The Greater Houston Partnership’s mission is to make the Houston region the best place to live, work and build a business. Over the past 25 years, our membership, comprised of over 2,000 leading companies, has tackled the region’s most important issues that impact our community. Houston has enjoyed incredible growth, and the Greater Houston Partnership has played an important role, working to create jobs and advocating for a positive business environment that is conducive to growth and prosperity.”

The new mark stems from the creative geniuses of two Texas design firms: Houston-based MMI Agency and Austin-based Avalanche Consulting and embodies the proud history of the Space City – a city of dreamers and doers, entrepreneurs, free spirits, and limitless potential (and the “H” resembles a rocket ship!).


As you can see from the different designs above, the new logo can be easily modified to represent multiple ideals. Right off the bat, I can see the logo working perfectly for the Historic Heights District, International District, Mahatma Ghandi District, etc. I love everything about the new logo; the typeface and the use of negative space is amazing.
